Calling Committed Christians – do you have a passion to help people struggling with poverty and debt?  
We are currently seeking to appoint a Debt Coach to join the team at CAP Debt Centre Bath 

 

As a CAP Debt Centre Coach, you will support the Debt Centre Manager in running the debt centre.  This will involve routine administration tasks and projects such as grant fund applications as directed.  However, the main focus of the role is to support your clients on their journey to becoming debt free.  

As a local debt coach, you will receive client referrals via CAP HQ.  Your task is to gather detailed information, using CAP software, about your client’s income, expenditure and debts.  This can take several visits and involve intimate details of your client’s life.  Sensitivity and persistence are required. 

Once the financial information gathering is complete CAP HQ colleagues create a plan to become debt free. The local team provides pastoral support during this process and assists the client in understanding the repayment process and will keep in touch until the client leaves or is debt free. 

All of this must be done in a way that positively reflects the Christian faith and the core values of the charity and offers your clients the opportunity to hear the Gospel.  

It is important to know that this is a mainly pastoral role which nevertheless requires enough understanding of household finances to gather the information required on the clients’ financial affairs.   CAP provides extensive training to support staff in this role.
